Bunscoil Mhuire boys played Blarney on Thursday 28th May in Páirc Uí Rinn in the Sciath Na Scol Hurling Final. Bunscoil started the game very nervously and had 6 wides in the first 10mins to Blarney's 2 points but Bunscoil keep going and got a great goal by Cian O'Sullivan thereby going 1 point up. Blarney then hit a purple patch and scored 3 points without reply going in at half time 5 points to Bunscoil's 1 goal.
Bunscoil knew they were in a fight and had to play their best hurling of the year to win this one and so they upped it a gear with Captain Jake O'Brien getting 1-01, Aaron Cramer 1 point to Blarney’s 1 point with all players playing very well. However Blarney showed their resolve and hit back with great shot on goal and great save by Bunscoil keeper Alan Carter but they scored from the rebound to go a point up again. This time it was Bunscoil’s turn to come again and Jake O'Brien drew the game with a fine point ensuring 5mins extra time aside had to be played. Blarney struck first with a point and were still 1 point up going into the second half but Jake stepped up again to score 2 unanswered points to win the game for Bunscoil 2.05 Blarney 1.07.
All Bunscoil players played very well in the final and some players stood above the rest Jake O'Brien(1.04 Captain), Ian Fitzgerald; Ethan Cliffe; Alan Carter; Brian O'Driscoll the rest of the panel who all played apart in getting to the final Nathan Daly; Aidan Kelly; AJ Brophy; Cian O'Sullivan(1point),John Murphy; Adam Dempsey; Finn O'Brien; Conor Savage; Aaron Cramer(1point), Nathan Born; Eoin McGrath; Sean O'Riordan; Sean Fitzgerald; Jason Coleman; Leon Kennelly; Jack Corcoran; Conor O'Neill; Conor Butler:

Allianz Sciath Na Scol Football Finals 2014
Bunscoil Mhuire enjoyed further Sciath na Scol success in 2014 to add to the hurling victory in May, when they played GS Na Dúglaise on Thursday 6th November in Páirc Uí Chaoimh in the Sciath Na Scol Football Final, in what can only be described as terrible wet conditions. All Bunscoil players played very well in the final, but a special mention must go to Wisdom Sobo who played very well in goals, Nathan Day and Ian Fitzgerald (capt) who were excellent throughout the final and of course the 3 goal hero Conor O Neill who’s goals made all the difference. Well done to all players, teachers & to John Bulman
On Thursday 1st May and Tuesday 13th May Eochaill Óg held 2 very successful Inter School Blitz days. Approximately 510 kids from the 4 local national schools (Bunscoil, South Abbey, Clonpriest and Gaelscoil) passed through the club gates and played mini football games against each other all morning. On Day 1 we had Junior & Senior Infants, whilst on Day 2 we had 1st class & 2nd class playing against each other. For some of the kids it was their first organised game and they thoroughly enjoyed it.
Afterwards they were treated to bottles of water/juice and fruit, compliments of Brookes Supervalu and each class was presented with a certificate of attendance by Eochaill Óg. All in all it was a very uplifting experience where the kids were made aware of outdoor exercise, having fun, making friends through sport, eating fruit and playing with a team. All schools were delighted with the 2 days and are hoping we can make it an annual event as they saw the enjoyment on the children’s’ faces afterwards. All positive experiences!
Eochaill Óg would also like to thank the teachers of the schools for their enthusiasm, the transition students for helping out in terms of referring and minding the teams, Brookes for supplying the fruit, Butler’s Busses for transporting the children to and from the schools. Also a huge buíochas to the Eochaill Óg organising committee (ye know who ye are!!) for getting this off the ground despite hiccups with the weather!!
