Eochaill Óg held their annual Cúl Camp from Monday 11th to Friday 15th of August. With 126 kids, it was one of the largest camps in Ireland. The kids had a great week and learnt lots of new skills from their coaches. All the coaches came from within the club. There was a mixture of experienced coaches such as Leigh Desmond, Johnny Bulman, Bill Cooper and Alan Frahill O’Connor and new coaches Ollie Dempsey, Nigel Roche, Chris Morrisson, Jessica Swayne and Michael O’Neill. All the coaches had a helper from the underage clubs. Many of these helpers would hope to progress to coaching in future years.
The weather could not have been better, sunny most of the time but with a fresh breeze keeping the participants cool as they did their drills. Many thanks to the team of parent helpers, who gave so generously of their time helping the smaller ones with their lunches, tying laces, toilet runs, etc. We also had a full time First Aid centre on site taking care of any bumps or bruises that occurred. Again, thanks to the First Aid team for all their help. The highlight of the week must have been when local hurling stars Bill Cooper and Seamus Harnedy met with all the kids on a one to one basis, presented medals and signed autographs. Well done to Joe Kirk and everyone involved.
