A great sadness has descended upon our club today as we learned of the death of our Club President, Tommy 'Tucker' O'Connell Snr.
A lifelong servant to our club as a player and supporter; he lined out for our hurlers and footballers many times in the 50s and 60s. He was part of the Intermediate Hurling team that got to a county final in 1964 against Castletownroche at the Cork Athletic Grounds, playing alongside the famed Noel Gallagher in the half-forward line. Many other great Youghal men also played on that team, such as the late Jackie Griffin and Noel Hogan, to name but a few. After his playing days, Tommy, along with his wife Mag, raised a wonderful family who have made an enormous contribution to our club. As the next generations of his clan don the Maroon and Gold, it's safe to say, his legacy will live on. Tucker was almost a permanent fixture on the sidelines of Copperalley, be it an under 12 or a senior match. He would always give refreshing, honest appraisals of how good or bad a Youghal team performed and he didn't hold back, whether you were his son or a stranger. It's safe to say that the club will feel this enormous loss for a long time to come, but however great our loss is; we think of his wife Mag, his children Anne, Alison, Siobhan, Neil, Sean & Tommy 'Tucker' Jnr, and the entire O'Connell family. We hold them in our thoughts and prayers as they grieve for this Great Gael. No doubt there will be many a sliotar fly in the fields in the sky this evening as Tommy 'Tucker' O'Connell is reunited with teammates gone before him. Tommy O'Connell Snr, Club President RIP Funeral arrangements below.

It finished Youghal 4-6 Mallow 2-5. They will forever be remembered in the history of CLG Eochaill as one of our greatest ever teams. We would welcome enforcement of this rule by all club members, managers and coaches. Due to the clash with, the late fixed, IHL game against Bandon in Copperalley the EGM is being brought forward by an hour to 7pm on Tuesday. There is only one item on the agenda, the transfer of trustees to ICCLG.
As we require a quorum of 15 members at a General Meeting, we need you to come along. Thank you everyone who attended our AGM last night special thanks to our outgoing officers and the very best of luck to our incoming committee and team mentors.

It is with great sadness that Youghal GAA have learned of the death of one of our most famous and renowned hurlers, Seanie O'Leary.
His passing has sent a wave of shock and loss across the entire GAA community in Cork and around the whole island of Ireland, such was his legacy to the game. While his exploits for Cork will go down as some of the greatest moments in the game's history, in Youghal we were the lucky ones. Seanie hurled with us throughout one of Youghal's greatest periods on the field of play in the 70s & 80s and his contribution was immeasurable. At just 17 years of age he was part of the 1969 intermediate hurling county winning team. He lined out at corner forward in our first and only County Senior Hurling Final in 1971 where a late Glen Rovers rally saw off the gallent Youghal men and the same year he won an All Ireland u21 medal with Cork. A decade later, in 1981 he was a vital part of the Youghal team that won the Cork Senior league v Midleton. All the while, he picked up 4 Celtic crosses in the red of Cork and was awarded Centenary Hurler of the Year in 1984. A great friend to all he shared the maroon and gold jersey with, his contribution to the game of hurling made us so proud that he was one of our own. Our sincere condolences to his wife Geraldine, his children Aideen, Tomás and Ciarán and the extended O'Leary family at this sad time.
