The girls showed great spirit and determination. Unfortunately it was not our day . The girls dug in Deep from the start and secured a comfortable win. They are now through to a championship semi final. Our Junior Camogie team got off to winning start in their championship season on Tuesday Night. The girls started slow and found themselves 2 points down at the water break. A goal from Chloe O’Connell after the restart set the pace for the rest of the match. Youghal Hit the net just before the half time whistle with a shot from Leah Broderick. Half time score Youghal 2-06 Bishopstown 0-06. Youghal where very settled in the second half and where really starting to show there class. Ciara Kiely and Catriona O’Keeffe Found the Net again in the second half. Final score Youghal 4-15 Bishopstown 0-9. Asylums dominated throughout. Well done to our girls for never giving up youghal 0-5 castlyons 1-22 1 sep 2020 v Ballincollig Our juniors travelled to Ballincollig on a very wet Tuesday last Despite the blustery conditions our girls hit the ground running with a very good display on her junior debut by Avril Cashman and midfield partner Shauna O’Connell. At half time we led by 12 points to 1 with some great scores from the likes of Ciara Crowley and Chloe O’Connell. Our girls showed no sign of tiredness and finished up just as strong as they started with a full time score of 2-2 to 3-13 06 sep 2020 v Cobh On Sunday morning our junior team played cobh in the junior b cork camogie Championship 1/4 final. Each girl gave it there all but unfortunately is was not to be ourday and our season has now ended. Youghal 0-9 cobh 3-8 Round 2 game v cobh was played on Monday 7th September in a thrilling encounter on Magners hill with two very evenly match teams. Amy O’Connell opened up the scoring with a point which was then followed on the 2.5min mark with a goal by team mate Aoibhe Daly. Cobh recovered well and Replied with 2 goals up the other end. A long ball in from Ciara Kennedy set up aoibhe for her second goal of the day . Cobh responded with converted free. A great run from Amy O’Connell Led to hand pass goal which Amy then followed with a point just before the break.
Half time score youghal. 3-2 cobh 3-4 . Youghal started the second half well and Amy opened the scoring again with 2 points from frees. More scores from aoibhe and Amy followed suit. With 15 mins to go it was tit for tat, neither team wanting their season to end . cobh converted 2 frees in sucession up the other end. Giving them a 1 point lead deep into injury time. A fantastic clearance from Avril Cashman and the ball was back up in the youghal half. Natasha Kilgannon was Fouled by an under pressure cobh defence. Amy converted the free, and it was a drawn game once again. A heavy hit on Avril Cashman after the ball was struck lead to a free for the last Puck of the game , which Amy converted to give us a 1 point victory. Well done to all players and management.
