East Cork Junior B Football Final

YOUGHAL and Castlelyons played out a draw in the East Cork junior B football championship final in Ballynoe last Sunday afternoon and as the scoreline indicates, this game was a real battle, with scores at a premium.
It took all of twelve minutes for a score to be registered and it came from the boot of the Castlelyons centre field player Colm Spillane from the right wing. Castlelyons had the breeze at their backs in the first half , but were wasteful with three early wide's, two from play and one from a placed ball.
Youghal levelled on the 19th minute when Daniel Savage pointed from play with a good score from distance, but immediately Castlelyons re-established the lead with another score from play off the boot of Darren Tobin, raising a white flag.
Castlelyons added a further score eight minutes later when Michael Spillane pointed over a close range free, but with the breeze a narrow two point lead at the break was not a great return and six first half wide's could have been very costly.
Youghal started well in the second half with a score after just two minutes when half time substitute Ciaran O'Mahony made an immediate impact with a point from play.
Youghal had to rely on some great defending from Patrick O'Mahony and Vincent Murray to keep the momentum going and when Adrian Curtin sent over a free on the 45th minute the sides were level.
On the 59th minute of play Barry Goggin sent over the score to give Youghal the lead for the first time and Youghal had one hand on the cup, but an outstanding score from the left wing from Castlelyons wing forward Robert Feeney levelled matters and that is the way it ended, meaning that they will have to do it all over again, probably this coming Saturday afternoon back in Ballynoe.
