Youghal are into thel ast four of the Evening Echo Cork County Premier Intermediate Hurling Championship with a ine point demolition of Inniscarra. The emphatic nature of their victory at Pairc Ui Rinn on Saturday afternoon was based on an impressive first-half display as they took an 11 point lead into the break, 1-11 to 0-3. In fact, the margin could have been greater had Youghal not been so wasteful in front of goal as they hit eight of their total wides tally of 10 in the opening 30 plusminutes, to Inniscarra's one. Frank Olden gave Iniscarra the lead inside 60 seconds before Damien Ring hit back with a 55-metre free for Youghal. Mickey O'Regan pointed his first of four frees for Inniscarra on seven minutes and then Brendan Coleman levelled on 15 for Youghal who then took the lead through Nigel Roche. Timmy Murphy tagged on a point for Iniscarra to level at 0-3 apiece on 17 minutes but it was to be their last scoreofthe half as Youghal hit 1-8 without reply. Points from Roche, Brendan Ring (thre, one free) Damien Ring (free) and James O'Mahoney put Youghal 0-9 to 0-3 ahead. Subsequently, excellent work on the endline by Brendan Coleman was rewarded as he fed Andrew Curtin with a handpass and the corner-forward battled to the net before Brendan Ring and Ciaran O'Mahoney added two further points to give Youghal a comfortable 11 point half-time advantage. Youghal picked up where they left off after the restart and Brendan Ring, Bill Cooper andJames O'Mahoney increased their advantage to 1-14 to 0-8. To their credit Inniscarra showed a lot of character to battle on in the second halfandscored 2-6 in total. They began their mini-resurgence when Dan O'Connell and Michael Coleman reduced the arrerars to 12 points but two points by Ciaran O'Mahoney and the superb Brendan Ring restored Youghal's seemingly insurmountable 14-point advanage, 1-16 to 0-5 with 20 minutes of normal time remaining. Nicky O'Regan struck a wonderful free from halfway for Inniscarra but Brett Maloney tagged another for Youghal. Inniscarra then hit 2-2 in a four-minute periodbetween the 47th and 51st as two frees from O'Regan were followed by two goals courtesy of Colm Casey and Jonathon Olden leaving the scoreline reading 1-17 to 2-8 with nine minutes of normal time top lay. Damien Ring knocked over a fre for Youghal, 1-18 to 2-8 and shortly after James O'Mahoney added a second goal for Youghal. Shane O'Mahoney then scored a late consolation point for Inniscarra.
