Junior camogie leaGue final

On Tuesday 21st, our Junior Camogie team played in the League Final in Castle Road v Bishopstown. With the date of this game moving a number of times, the final appointed date meant that Youghal were missing a number of regulars. The game was played at a ferocious pace throughout. Bishopstown edged ahead early on with a number of well taken points followed by a nicely worked goal. However, this Youghal team showed excellent character and responded with an opportunistic goal from Chloe O'Connell. A number of points were traded by both sides, but late in the half Bishopstown began to pull away leaving them 6 points ahead at half-time. On the resumption, Bishopstown scored an early point, were awarded (and missed) a penalty and looked like they might pull away. However, Youghal, as they had done throughout the league, didn't give up and scored 3 points without reply to leave a deficit of only 4 points. Youghal continued to battle and began to push players forward in attempt to close the margin. Unfortunately, this left gaps in defence, which Bishopstown exploited with some good scores. Final score, Youghal 1.7, Bishopstown 1-16.
Even though the game didn't go in Youghal's favour, everyone involved can be proud of their work rate and commitment throughout the league campaign.
