U12GFL Youghal Maroon 4-2 St. Colmans 1-2

​Our Maroon team played their 4th league game of this year’s campaign when they headed to sunny Shanagarry last Wednesday night May 14th. Fielding many of last year’s U10 team the girls gave a great performance with all 17 girls fighting for every ball and playing some lovely possession football. Both halves were a tight affair with Youghal just shading both with some better finishing and superb defence by our goalie Ellie and fill back line of Caoimhe, Jenny and Cara. Youghal opened the scoring with a well taken goal by Kaiah which settled the team. St Colmans responded with a point but a well taken goal by Ciara restored the Youghal lead only for St. Colmans to score a great goal leaving both sets of spectators roaring on their respective teams. Chloe pointed a well finished move to leave the Youghal girls leading 2-1 to 1-1 at half time primarily due to excellence play from our half back line of Hannah O, Aoibhe and Cassie. The second half resumed with both sides attacking up and down the field with Mary at mid-field providing great service to her forwards. Some great inter-play from our half forwards of Emma, Hannah F, Leah and Grainne resulted in a second goal by Chloe to give the Youghal girls some breathing space. With St. Colmans throwing everything they had us we held out and finished stronger with a goal and a point by Emily after some near misses by Lucy. Well done girls on another super performance, the hard training is starting to pay off. Next up is Cobh in Magners Hill on May 29th @ 6:30pm.
